Left leg. Right leg. Leg pain (aka sciatica) will affect either leg
(and sometimes both). Sandy Springs chiropractic care at Cross Chiropractic Center
helps ease leg pain and addresses
the spinal source of the sciatica at the same time. Cross Chiropractic Center leads
Sandy Springs leg pain and back pain patients to pain relief with chiropractic care.
SCIATIC LEG PAIN: Right Leg or Left Leg
You have heard of right-handed people and left-handed
people, right? Of course, you have! Did you know that the left leg grows longer in right-handed people and the right
leg grows longer in left-handed people? Not 100% of the time, but
research documents this differeence.
Bearing this in mind, it’s not surprising that more
people have longer left legs (53%) than right
legs (39%). Incredibly, only 8% of people have equal
leg lengths. (1) What role does that play in
which leg will have sciatic leg pain? Discs will
bulge into the concavity of the curve owing to a variety
of issues like uneven stresses on the disc’s anulus. The
concavity of the spinal curve is on the long leg side. A right-handed person
with a long left leg will likely have leg pain
on the left side. Another interesting point: hip pain often arises
on the long leg side, too: 88.9% long leg and 11.1% short leg.
Sciatica is the same: 78.5% arises on the long
leg side and 21.5% on the short leg side. (2,3) Your
Sandy Springs chiropractor can measure a short leg pretty
easily by examining 3 things: iliac
crest, the verticality of the spine, and levelness of the posterosuperior iliac
spine dimples. Researchers noted that there is a strong
relationship between visual and xray measurements. (4) Trust your Sandy Springs
chiropractor to see a short leg…and take care of any related
disc herniation causes of pain!
DISC HERNIATION RE-ABSORPTION WITH NON-SURGICAL CARE
A new study examined 75 cases of ruptured
lumbar disc herniation. 46 of the 75 cases had
radiating leg pain: 46 cases on the left and 29 on
the right. (Makes sense now, yes?)
At 5 years post- non-surgical treatment, a
“reabsorption” phenomenon was noted. The excellent and good rate of disc reabsorption
was 73.24%. (5) Cross Chiropractic Center provides relieving
non-surgical care of Sandy Springs leg pain and back pain.
RELIEF FOR Sandy Springs LEG PAIN and BACK PAIN
And then remember the new paper about
the benefits of chiropractic maintenance care: Maintenance care decreases
the number of days of pain in acute back pain
episodes and raises the length of pain-free periods
between back pain
episodes in patients with recurrent and persistent back pain. (6) Cross Chiropractic Center
is here for those back pain and leg pain patients seeking fewer back and leg pain days and those who want to live life with fewer periods
of leg and back pain.
